POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Advance Reservation Requirements

At least 48 hour notice is required for SCAT services.  Priorities are given to life-sustaining medical services, including kidney dialysis and cancer therapy.  Alternate transportation, such as shared ride taxi services is available.  Because on-time arrivals to appointments is critical, there may be delays of up to 45 minutes on return trips.  There is no guarantee that a service can be scheduled.  (732) 431-6480 ext. 1.

Cancellation Policy

A passenger who has not called to cancel is considered a "no-show" trip.  Three or more times in one month will result in denial of service during thee following month.  Time and money spent on sending a driver to a destination where the passenger is not present results in denial of services to eligible passengers.  Please make every effort to call the SCAT office if you need to cancel a trip.

Denied Trips

About 90% of the requested trips can be provided.  There can be difficulty scheduling medical trips of great distances across the county, trips before 10 am and after 2 pm.  There is also a greater number of requests in the shared ride regions than there are funds and equipment available.

Fare Policy

Fares will be chargedd for transportation services.  The fares collected will be used to provide additional transportation opportunities for senior and disabled residents of Monmouth County.  No eligible resident will be denied access to services.  Fares are in line with those rates charged for public transportation services.  Any increase in fare will be subject to public hearings.

Reduced/No Fare Determination

The Income Eligibility Application must be complete.
